Haywood Micaye: PREORDER LIVE! (Also, A Desperate Attempt to Apologize)

Hello, friends!

This isn’t a joke. My novel, Haywood Micaye, is now live for preorder on e-readers, (and, soon in paperback form), and will officially drop January 2nd, 2019!

I’m so remarkably happy to finally be able to announce this, especially after dedicating four years of my life to this novel. I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with the world!

Some of you who have been following my announcements might notice, however, that I had originally said it was going to be released much earlier than now. And while that was the case for a long while, plans sort of changed. I wanted to take the time to address that issue and move forward with the project.

What it boils down to, essentially, is that there has been a lot of life that has happened in the last couple of months. I started my freshman year of college back in August, and I’ve been juggling that along with some other, more personal events in an attempt to strike up a balance between my writing life and my personal life.

Publishing a book is more difficult than a lot of authors make it out to be. And I’ll admit I’ve probably taken more time than I needed to in order to get this book out to you guys, but I’m something of a perfectionist and I believe I owe it not only to you all to make a good product but also to myself to put something out into the world that I am proud of. A lot of time, money, and general hard work has gone into turning Haywood Micaye into a reality, and hopefully, when you all finally read it you’ll be able to understand that.

I know that there’s no real excuse for pushing the publishing date back again. And I apologize to you all for having to do that, especially for those who are so excited about this novel to be released. But I’m hoping that you can understand that I’m human and also new to this whole publishing thing and that you’ll stick with me and see me move on to better things. I have a lot of plans for future novels and other works I can’t wait to share with you. Now that I’ve actually experienced what it’s like to go through the publishing process, I can start my projects from here on out with a clearer, thoroughly visualized idea of how long things will take not only in the industry but for me to achieve.

At the end of the day, I’m doing work that I’m proud of, and that means a lot to me. I’m getting my footing and making a name for myself, and that excites me more than anything else. I’m so lucky to have all of you supporting me and sticking by my side from day one, so thank you to all of you for being so wonderful. The people in my life who know me personally understand a little more about why I’ve had to do the things I’ve done with this book, and to those who don’t yet have that awareness of me, know that the way I did things with Haywood is not something I’m going to make a habit of.

Live and learn, I suppose. I’m asking is for you to forgive me and take this great next step with me.

Anyways, now that I have finished groveling, let’s talk some more about this book of mine, and what you have to do to secure yourself a copy today! (Hint: it’s not difficult.)

The preorder went live this past weekend, but sometimes it takes a bit of time for the online stores and places of distribution to show it on their varied pages, so it’s not quite everywhere yet, but it’s getting there. At the end of this post, I’m going to put links up for where it’s “officially live” and able to be preordered, along with the universal book link so you can see for yourself where you can find the book! At the time of me writing this, it’s already up on Amazon, Kobo, and Nook books, but it will be other places as well! Check back on the Haywood Micaye page here on the website, I will be updating that page with the new links as they become available.

Another thing to note: Haywood Micaye will also be coming out in a paperback format, but unfortunately, that won’t be a purchase option until a little closer to release day. The service I am working with to publish Haywood allows for ebook preorders, but not print ones, and honestly, it’s a bit of a process to try and get the print book for preorder so we’re just going to hold off until a little closer to time. That’s another lesson I’ve learned for the future, and, as with much of the rest of my process, something I’m going to look in to for my subsequent works.

This is a lot of information, I know, but hopefully, it helps to clear some things up so we can all move forward in this process on the same page. I’ll be posting some more as we draw closer to the official release date, but mostly I’ll be putting my time and effort into finalizing what I need to finalize and moving to the finish line of this particular marathon in my life.

Cheers: to the future of Haywood Micaye, and all the works to follow it.
