Hello there, friends!
Where has the summer gone? It seems like only yesterday it was May…
So these past few weeks have been hectic for me. I will be starting college this fall, and juggling all of the paperwork that requires along with work, writing, and day-to-day life has meant that I have slipped up on a few things and left projects on the back burner for a little longer than I probably ought to have. That being said, there have been a lot of good things that have happened these past few days that I am excited to share with you.
First and foremost, however, we need to talk about Haywood Micaye.
After much deliberation, I have decided to push back the original July 23rd release date I proposed.
I would much rather take a little more time do deliver you guys a polished, finished project than to hastily try and tie up all of the loose ends that there still are present in the work. That being said, the new release date I’m aiming for isn’t too far away from the 23rd—think early to mid-August kind of distance. Keep an eye out for information about all that!
I do, however, have something else for you all to hype instead: I’m going to be published in my first anthology with Actual Established Writers!
This is a pretty exciting thing for me, as it’s giving me the opportunity to be recognized alongside of twelve other indie authors
It’s a really cool project because we’re all also at different points in our varied writing careers, yet we’re all coming together for a pretty great anthology. The collection is called Chaos Cocktail, and the pre-order live on numerous ebook shops already. Finally, if you’re not doing anything this Thursday, I will be attending an open night event for poetry! The event is being put together by Oh Snap Poetry!, and I’m looking forward to reading some work and listening to some other local poets. I have more information about the event on my Where’s Ashlynne page. Come out and dig some poets with me!
This is a real short update, I know, but once things calm down a little more I will write some longer posts about both my novel and the anthology. Like I said earlier, the summer has really gotten away from me. I haven’t been quite the author I want to be lately. I have trouble keeping deadlines and I get sidetracked and I don’t work on the things I ought to be working on. But I’m trying.
Hopefully next month I’ll be able to get back into the swing of some semblance of a routine.
Until next time,
Ashlynne
